Overview

The lure of a V12 is strong and, when it’s wrapped up in as gorgeous a body as the DB7 possesses, it’s hard not to conclude that a DB7 Vantage represents huge value for money in the current market.

Starting life with a supercharged six-cylinder motor, the DB7 received a significant uplift in power when it received the first of the modern Aston twelve cylinder motors in 1999 in Vantage spec and was so popular that the six-cylinder model soon ended production. Good for 415hp, it also delivered a mountain of torque that, particularly when mated to the automatic transmission, makes for the consummate grand tourer.

The gorgeous interior also contributes to the feeling of well-being and if you can find one that’s been well looked after then it’s a huge amount of car for the money right now.

Fortunately, we have a three owner car here that’s covered just 38k miles in its lifetime and comes with a bulging service folder that shows it’s had a great deal of love and attention. As a result it’s in lovely condition inside and out. Finished in a very desirable colour combination, it’s sure to garner a huge amount of positive attention wherever it goes.

Interior

  • Complementing the exterior perfectly, the cabin is finished in a combination of beige and cream leathers, with beautiful wood veneer inserts to the dashboard and door panels
  • Under foot, there are deep green wool carpets with matching overmats while overhead is a suede headlining
  • The essential luxuries are there, including heated electrically adjusted seats, air conditioning and an Alpine radio which has the advantage of having a cassette player that you can use with a tape-shaped Bluetooth receiver to stream to
  • The condition of the interior is consistently excellent throughout with barely any wear to show for the car’s age and mileage
  • The boot is very neat and tidy and the tailgate sports new gas struts
  • Overall, it’s really as good as you could hope for and obviously reflects the limited mileage and level of care that it has been treated with

Exterior

  • Finished in the classic Aston Martin shade of Chiltern Green and riding on 10-spoke alloy wheels, this car shows off Ian Callum’s design to the full
  • It presents beautifully and has obviously received the attentions of what we suspect to be a long line of valeters
  • Looking very closely, there is a small one inch scratch on the rear bumper and some evidence of paint bubbling around the rear window but these were present when the owner purchased the car and he reports that there hasn’t been any change to either
  • The wheels are immaculate with no signs of kerbing and wear a set of Continental Sport Contact tyres
  • Light lenses are clear and free from damage
  • Underneath is very clean and there’s not so much as an advisory on the MOT history for corrosion
  • In summary, it’s a real stunner

Mechanical

  • 5,935cc V12 rated at 415hp
  • Five speed automatic gearbox
  • Rear wheel drive
  • Freshly serviced and new battery, fuel pumps and filters
  • No known mechanical issues
  • The owner advises that it starts, runs and sounds just as a DB7 should which is to say that it’s just lovely

Summary

Though the DB7 might have saved Aston’s bacon back in the day by selling in decent numbers, they remained a low volume manufacturer and so it’s still a treat to see one today. That’s particularly the case when it’s one in such good condition as this. Well cared for and in a fabulous colour combination, this looks ready to be thoroughly enjoyed.
