I tend to agree, his delivery is very stilted and his humour software is quite a few version from updated.

He is the same on Mastermind too - just lacks that warmth.

After watching his series of travelling round Italy, I keep expecting him to mention how much his wife would enjoy this.

Quite extreme left wing bias tonight.
Bitterness, rather than good satire. Not the best episode by a long shot.
Yeah, I'm detecting a bit myself hehe

He was a bit bobbins on that too, as I recall. Faced with one of the most photogenic and culturally rich countries on earth he managed to make it all seem rather dull.

Clive isn't the best host IMO, it's almost as if he's trying to play a character that doesn't suit his personality.

I thought the episode was pretty good overall, no idea why some people are saying it was "extreme lefty" (whatever that is). if that's what you thought why not switch over?

Indeed but I was most surprised that Paul's team were awarded 100 points, the usual contracts were torn up and Ian's team actually won by a point.

Ian's team actually won, very odd episode.

Bring back Naga!

Couldn't disagree more- I think he has a lovely warm and avuncular style on both.

It’s seems like an act he puts on and it he doesn’t come across naturally.

I’ve heard one of the writers Kevin Day saying how difficult it is for the host to be funny if they’re not a comedian.

I love Clive but agree that the latest episode and his presentation wasn't anywhere near as entertaining as usual. I was also quite surprised Jon Richardson didn't feature much, I thought he'd be really funny and involved in it all but he didn't really speak much.

It was almost as if he didn't want to be there. He seemed to warm up as the show went on.

Can Angus Deayton be rehabilitated now please ?

Angus has said in intervieiws that he has been asked back more than once, but basically 'doesn't need it'.

My wife and I are the same. We can't see Clive now without wondering how Catherine is.

I seem to remember when he spoke to her on the phone on the Italy series, she sounds distinctly unimpressed to be talking to him!
