Hi there,

So I've got a latern that is shocking and needs a good clean. Unfortunately I've got no clue how to do it. I've got a Nilfisk pressure washer but I'm guessing using that would need some different attachments to do it safely.

I'm also keen to not enrage SWMBO by scratching said latern.

Any advice greatly appreciated!

Cheers!

Coincidentally I have just unboxed my new Nilfisk.
On the box there is a list of extra tools you can buy. One is 'Roof Cleaner' which is ' telescopic pole with 15m reach sprays mixture of water and detergent'.

Sounds as if this is what you need?

A bucket of (or spray bottle) of Optimum no Rinse (or other wax free waterless wash of your choice) carefully wiped off with a soaked microfibre noodle mitt.

If really dirty then a concentrated shampoo like Bilt Hamber Autowash, rinsed clean. A hose will do, no need for a pressure washer. A soft silicone squeegee will quickly leave a spotless finish.

A yearly coating of RainX or similar makes it easy to rinse off muck.
Ended up getting up there and using ONR and a wash mitt. Much improved but while I was up there I noticed the roof is in need of a clean so I'll get up again next weekend (weather willing) and get some roof cleaner on there.

Cheers for the advice!

Must admit I had jumped to the conclusion that it was inaccessible!
Its a bit of a faff to get up there to be honest due to an overhang

That’s not a lantern - it’s a flat roof light.
Ahhh, everyday is a school day!
