Despite ULEZ and the rising crime levels….people just don’t care it seems?
People shouting online (and often not even from London) are not representative of real life. It would appear that Londoners just voted for Khan and therefore ULEZ effectively so hopefully people will stop claiming it’s opposed by a majority and imposed on them.

It seems that people cared enough NOT to vote for a loon. It seems that in the South West Assembly area, tactical voting may have played a part. Strong Libdem area but Khan won. Hall should have won here with the vote spilt between Khan and the Libdem candidate.
Crime is up everywhere and not solely a London problem and campaigning against ULEZ now seems to be a busted flush and a misstep for Hall. People have moved on and either realised that their car is compliant or changed it or are happy to use public transport. Most vocal dissenters seem to be those living outside London or just anti-Khan in any case.

I’m shocked that the handwringers on NP&E aren’t representative. Shocked to the core.
Just remember they consider themselves in the centre but possible a tiny little bit to the right of it.They really can't understand why everyone else seems to be practically a Communist compared to themselves

Me too, they always come across as an intelligent and reasonable bunch, maybe there’s been a mistake? Makes me laugh when they crow about the crime rate in London, they swallowed it hook and line again. Killboy said:

Really pleased for Sadiq Khan. Looking like a decent victory and a great 3rd term as London Mayor. Fantastic.
Yup! Really impressive results. Perhaps he’s actually in touch with his electorate?p1stonhead said:

Oh, wait, people on the 'polecutters' thread are still vicariously encouraging others to get out and express their distaste physically...apparently they are the 'right' type of protesters...

Hall would have been a disaster for London and Reform only secured 3.2% of the vote so it looks like divisive politics should shop elsewhere.
Good result.
London, not having the culture wars bks.
Hall is a crank. Looks like she put off enough people to Khan's benefit, whih begs the question again, why can't the Tories find someone credible to stand in London. Pretty embarrassing that Zac Goldsmith should be their high water mark.
As for Khan, the interesting part will be seeing whether working with a Labour government will elevate his mayoralty from meh to decent after years of Tory obstructionism. Still a decent result especially in the face of the Tories stripping away STV in a blatant attempt to engineer his defeat.
Also hearing the Conservatives have asked for a recount in the West Midlands - which would suggest the Tories fear Andy Street may have lost. Lol at that.

West Midlands would be incredible.. Could it happen? Would certainly get the champagne corks popping! Hall is a crank. They can't find anyone credible to put in the cabinet, so not being able to find anyone for London mayor is hardly a surprise Hall is a crank.
