Given Swinney now appears to be First Minister, what comes first? The 2026 election or this heap stumbling into service (or sinking)
They'll do their best to force it over to Calmac before the first Islay boat, and then all blame will just get shifted to them when any delays to service occur despite it being a very shonky build which will be very challenging to ever put into reliable service. When this is what they see as an acceptable standard of work to mount a gauge, there isn't much faith in the vessel as a whole:

Thats bad.

What do I win?
A headstone commemorating the death of commercial shipbuilding on the Clyde and a signed photo of Sturgeon with the painted on bridge windows in the background.

Stephensons rocket would have had the the holder bolted to the frame through one of those 2 handy pre drilled holes as well

I mean, they had the welder out - could they not have sunk a couple of puddle welds in? Or, you know, do more than tack it.

It's only got to last the 90 day warranty period.

Ive never done a weld in my life but I reckon I could do a better job than that eek

If this is genuinely a finished installation people should be dismissed for poor work standards, that is shoddy beyond belief, and thats just the bracket and weld, the pump/motor foot in the background has no plated washer under the bolt head to protect the casting when tightening the bolt, plus look at the rough end of the metal below it, there is a rag on it and no radius to remove the sharp edges.

I've made better brackets at home with a vice and hammer. What a state.

What a load of ste, there's nothing about that which doesn't need scrapping and redoing.

That 'bracket' looks like it was dug out of my scrap metal bin, tacked to test fit, and then the final finishing and welding in place forgotten about.

I'd be embarrassed to have knocked that up in my garage, where nobody else would ever see it!

Is that lash up for real? I had assumed it was just a tongue-in-cheek piccie to poke fun but I’m beginning to doubt that. Surely such workmanship can never pass any Lloyd’s (or whoever) inspection . . . can it . . . seriously?

Now is the summer of our discontent. News reports ferry services to Arran cancelled due to breakdown. At least until 1pm. At least it isn't a busy holiday weekend.

Passengers only via MV Alfred.

Maybe the good folk of Arran won't vote SNP in the upcoming election.

I see a cartoon seems to be causing a bit of a stooshie amongst the face painted, flag worshipping haggis shaggers. I personally thought it was quite funny and actually rather clever

After seeing this headline on the SNP propaganda outlet it would seem the only "Fortunes" that will change will be their personal fortunes, they will get much richer whilst we get much poorer...another stonking deal from the SNP.

Swinney the only man in Scotland to be more useless than Dumza Useless who himself took being useless to a whole other level.

Get the popcorn out everyone this is going to be a blood bath.
