I live in central London and don't have a problem at all with DIY or any of this nonsense.

How many of you actually live in London or drive through it regularly? I do and I hardly see many non compliant vehicles around. I suspect ULEZ is a non issue for the vast majority of Londoners.
My parents live on the Sutton / Merton border, I'm actually surprised how many older cars are parked on the drives around there. I was wondering if some people just aren't paying it. My parents neighbours have a mk3 fiesta, a mk2 micra and a diesel mk2 megane. The neighbour after that has an old land cruiser, and an old 3 series estate, both 90's cars. There is mk1 Clio, a Peugeot 106 and Mazda bongo friendly on the other side of the road. None of them are compliant.

(I grew up around there, but left for Sussex. But I'm still up there at least twice a week).

i thought ulez was all that matters?
Most of the people that vote for him don't own a car. But are too naive to understand that services, shops, tradesmen etc will pass the charge onto the consumer i.e. them.
Londoners will get what they vote for, it is the rest of us who suffer if we are unfortunate enough to need to drive in.

Sadly I have two places which I need to visit in London to see family. A 20 mph zone that stretches for many miles on main roads is lots of fun rolleyes
Unlucky.

Thankfully, London is one city i will never, ever have to visit again.
Another benefit of having Khan as mayor wink

Will be very interesting to see what Khan will/can get done when he (very likely) has a friendly Labour government alongside him. He’s only ever had an opposition one so far.
It'll certainly be interesting to see what lame excuses he comes up with for failing to deliver on his promises once he can no longer fall back on his usual "oh, if only those mean Tories in Westminster had given me all the money/power I wanted"...

Pay per mile will be next. All the mugs that voted for him thinking that they are immune from stuff like this because they don’t drive will soon be complaining -Sainsbury’s and Tesco’s etc(and any company that operates in our cesspit capital city)will just pass the cost on to the customer-

All of us? Perhaps lots wont care because it wont be a problem for us? Or perhaps he wont do it because he has said he wont more than once?

I saw this picture under a heading saying Khan heckled at results declaration.
He has put himself out there done his best won fair and share and we have to have heckling. Personally I think it's rude and it must go through his mind is it really worth all the hassle.
It's little wonder that his wife stood next to him looks disgusted at the hecklers.

He’s made an absolute mess of London -Ulez expansion? Very popular that ,and makes fk all difference to air quality. Wished I’d never have to set foot there again, but unfortunately sometimes I have to work there.
20mph zones-another blinding idea.

But the majority in London are reasonably happy with it all and he's been elected again. smile

So what you going to do?

Cut down some cameras?
Not pay any fines?
Run around with dodgy reg plates?

I’m guessing none of the above.

Didn't 40% turn out to vote? The majority didn't even vote!

Is the 20mph thing something Khan implemented? I fkin hate these 20mph zones and thought it was the local councils and not the mayor?

Well done though - you are one of the few posters who can actually articulate why Khan is a bad choice for mayor of London using facts, rather than disliking him because of his race, religion or a mumsnet type emotional feeling of why he's "a bad man".

For me he's the least worst out of him and the Tory bigot, and he really needs to do more for London. Crime, antisocial behaviour, and the cost of housing/living.

I'm no fan of his but I am a born and bred Londoner who cares about this city, and see him as the least worst option we have. If only the tories had put forward a candidate that wasn't so vile that we might have had a better choice.

It's like in the G.E. - plenty of us are going to have to hold our noses and vote for the least worst candidate as the Tories have fked everything up so royally.

Do you have a view on which candidate would have been better for London and why?

I suspect a massive overlap between ‘the vote was leave, suck it up losers’ and ‘Khan hasn’t really won, he’s got nowhere near a majority of the electorate’ types
