At 2 sq meters you will cover most of the floor space with a bath mat anyway.
We went tile.
Same tile as the walls. The tiles sre not slippy as they are a more matt finish than shiny glaze but the real indulenge was the electric underfloor heating so the tiles are not cold in the morning and evenings when your generally barefoot.
Under floor heating was only £200 fitted extra when everything else was up anyway.

Bingo now you've said it it's Karndean and I assumed the C biggrin

It's very difficult to get too much of a feel for something stood on it in a showroom but looking on the website they seem to do stuff that looks like tiles as my concern was you'd have tiled walls with some fake plastic wood looking floor.

The room is 2M x 2M so even if it's expensive it's not going to be a big deal for 4M square.

Thoughts on that v tiles for a bathroom?
I have Amtico in my bathroom and it's been really good. Thinking about getting underfloor heating in there and wouldn't hesitate to do Amtico or Karndean in there again.

Bathrooms are great bang for buck

Some of the labour charges here are bonkers though

Brands that I would recommend having done three bathrooms and two WCs recently

Hans grohe taps and showers and thermostatic showers
Shower head from the ceiling is a nice touch IMO
Shower lab screens
Duravit basins, baths, furniture (long lead times)
Catalano whirl bogs
Geberit concealed cisterns
Hib mirrors
Taps coming out of walls
Zhender factory shop for 70% off your towel rails
Definitely get a softener. The feeling of soft water on your skin is fabulous
Mitred edges on tiles

There is huge variation in costs of identical items from different suppliers

Eg you could easily spend £140 on something that is available for £100 elsewhere

I recommend elecmec in Stanmore for anything bathroom related. They will be cheaper or the same as anyone else.

We have Karndean in the kitchen and I’m not too impressed if I’m honest. It’s a pain to clean properly as it’s a multistage (all supplied by Karndean of course…) process and it’s a faff. We’ve given up and just use Flash now (I can hear the gasps of horror from certain PHers from here hehe) but we’ll be getting rid when we do our kitchen later on this year. Looks alright but no better than a decent vinyl covering in my opinion.

I’d persevere with your plumber and put tiles down. They will look a lot better and unless you’re a total numpty, are perfectly safe and so much easier to keep clean.

If poss, have a think about underfloor heating. One thing with tiles is they can be cold underfoot esp in winter. One thing we regret not doing.

Does anyone know approximately how much this costs to do? What would be the ballpark price for a 12 ft square room?

Thanks.

Looking to have a walk-in shower installed so might as well indulge in some mission creep and do UFH and a new floor.

2sqm cost us about £200 to get fitted.
We have a timer/thermostat.
The timer was most of the cost. The rest was pre cut heat pads that clipped together so can be as big or as small as required.

The floor is set to 23c about 15 hours a day.
You can go foe a piss in the middle of the night and the floors warm. You dont need to find your slippers

Re underfloor heating, it doesn't cost much to put in so I took the view to stick it in anyway but to not do away with the rad so that the room didn't need to use it to be functional.

Tiled floors are ok but maybe avoid polished porcelain as that can be very slippy when wet.

Also electric element in radiator to dry towels in summer when heating is off

Agreed. I'll always fit an oil filled towel rad so that bathrooms are independent of central heating. Also frees you from a potential load of plumbing and freedom to locate the radiator wherever is best.

I guess this is only relevant if doing whole house, but I have my towel rails on a separate circuit to the central heating. I can therefore put them on independently which is useful

And you can fudge it turning the valves off on the other rads but it can be a bit of a faff as a workaround.
